What goes better with truffles (its an assorted pack): wine or champange? And what kinds do you recommend?
This is the gift I’m planning on sending to a close friend of mine and I was wondering what kind of wine or champagne or any kind of alcohol would go best.
You need a desert wine. I would try a port a cream sherry or a Marcella. They are inexpensive and have nice nutty tones that go well with chocolate. The sweets make champagne taste even more sour than it is. Some Cabs, Merlots, and Shiraz also go good with chocolate, but they are not cheep, and you really need to find the right bottle.
I prefer champagne with fruits or as a before dinner drink. Its up to you though, the bubbles can be a lot of fun for desert. Try a Cava though (from Spain). Much cheeper than Champagne (under $15), just as traditional, and tastes as good as anything you can get for $50 or less.
