How does wine work when playing windows stuff using Ubuntu? (Linux)?
Okay, so… I have Ubuntu 8.10 and I like it in the sence that it seems to be doing a good job in keeping out virus’s…. But I’m getting frustrated because it’s nothing like Windows, which is obvious since it is a completely different operating system, but I’ve been trying to figure out how things work in the mad world of Ubuntu for a REALLY long time…and I’m still completely lost!!!
I LOVE making music video’s and the only thing I’ve seen people recommend for Ubuntu is Keno…. Which hate’s me and refuse’s to play any of the video’s I try to import, and I don’t know why….. Does anyone know which format a file has to be in, in order for Keno to play it?
Also, how does wine work?
Where can you download it SAFELY?
And does it allow you to play Windows stuff in it, such as Windows Media Player, or Sony Vegas?
Please, anyone’s help would be amazing!!!
Try kdenlive, kino is very limitied.
You can download both Wine and kdenlive from Add/Remove located in Applications.
WineHQ will allow you to install some Windows software, but not all. You can check what will and will not run on their website.
